The top pictures shows the right wing with all its feathers intact.

The bottom picture shows Randy holding the eagle with its left wing extended. You can see how the damage makes it impossible for the eagle to fly, leaving him at the mercy of predators and unable to hunt for food.

It will take a year before the left wing is fully feathered.
